Unloading and Stockpiling System - Rock Systems, Inc.

Southern California - May 2015

Southern California beaches are the preferred destination for millions of tourists each year.  When ocean storms caused severe damage to these coastal resources, a plan was enacted to deliver clean sand to restore the eroded beaches.  The project was designed to bolster the region’s economy, restore the environment for wildlife, and protect neighboring properties from ocean waves.

A contractor was selected to provide clean sand from an offsite location and deliver the material via end dump, 10-wheel trucks to a specific location. Rock Systems, Inc. was chosen to provide a material handling system designed to unload the trucks and to stockpile the sand.  The following equipment completed the system:

  • Rock Systems model 104-LP low-profile truck unloader
  • Rock Systems 36” wide x 60’ long transfer conveyor
  • Rock Systems 36” wide x 100’ long portable radial stockpiling conveyor
  • Electrical Control Panel with wiring
  • Diesel Generator Set to provide power

The contractor provided track mounted dozers to distribute the stockpiled material, to replenish the eroded beach sand.
