Blending and Mixing Plant – Nov 2015
In 2013, the Texas Department of Transportation began a $1.1 billion project to build 184 miles of highway around the Greater Houston region. The SH 99 Grand Parkway aims to connect communities of 7 different counties from US 290 to US 59 N/I-69.
A local contractor was awarded the responsibility of building three segments of the parkway consisting of 38.4 contiguous miles of roadway, more than 120 bridges, frontage roads, associated drainages and utilities infrastructure. The contractor needed an efficient and durable system capable blending and feeding two materials to a continuous mix pugmill plant to make concrete. Rock Systems provided an engineered system to satisfy this requirement.
The plant includes the following equipment:
• Rock Systems Model 108-2P 2 Bin Blending Hopper
• Portable Transfer Conveyor
• Rapid Mix Continuous Pugmill Mixing Plant
